Chief Minister’s Relief Fund gets Rs 4.57 cr


CHENNAI: Prominent individuals and organisations today contributed Rs 4.57 crore to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund towards the improvement and rehabilitation impact place cyclone ‘Thane’ which impact the shore of Cuddalore and Villupuram districts on Dec 30 last.

Dravidian Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker D Jayakumar and emoployees of the land secretariate contributed Rs 3.26 lakh, patch MLAs N D Venkatachalam (Perundurai) and Nanjil A Murugesan (Nagercoil) donated Rs 5 lakh each.

Sri Vijayalakshmi Trust contributed Rs 1.25 crore, patch G Viswanathan originator and Chancellor of Vellore Institute of Technology and K S Raju, Nagarjuna Oil Corporation Limited Group Chairman, donated Rs digit crore each.

Southern Railway Mazdoor Union donated Rs 40 lakh, patch actors Sivakumar, Surya and Karthik donated Rs 25 lakh.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had early appealed to people, organisations, NGOs and philanthropists to advance towards the improvement and rehabilitation work.
